AHIS (UK & Ireland) Conference 2004 |
| The aim of this year's annual conference is to look at the changing veterinary profession and the information needs which result from these changes. These changes result from new educational requirements, new ways of distributing information, new ways of looking at information gathering, and even new diseases themselves. |
| PROGRAMME |
| OPEN ARCHIVES INITIATIVE Frederick Friend, Honorary Director, Scholarly Communications, University College London. SPARC and OSI Senior Consultant. Some members of AHIS UK&I heard Frederick give an extremely interesting talk about the Open Archiving at the International conference (ICAHIS4) in 2003 and he has been invited to share his thoughts with the UK audience of animal health information specialists. Frederick will explain the lateral thinking which could result in published work being freely available, paid for at source, rather than using a subscription model for purchase. |
